I was honoured to be the guest on episode 2 of the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research’s new podcast Just Humans. We talked about my sociological research using fiction and poetry and Stir my new poetry pamphlet for the Distant Voices project.
When we think about translation we usually think of translating from one language to another but research is an act of translation too. Often you are translating an experience, a conversation or observation into quotes and tables. Maybe there’s a better way of doing this.
I thoroughly recommend the first episode ‘Darkness‘ which features Dr Anna Souhami’s fascinating work on policing on remote Scottish islands.
The series is available on most major podcasting platforms such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, SoundCloud and Spotify where you can also like, leave a review, share and subscribe.
Host: Dr Alistair Fraser
